The Auaritas were the inhabitants of the island of La Palma before the Spanish conquest. Their origin is not clearly known and their name "Auaritas" or "Beneahoritas" was given centuries later, in the 19th century.
From what is clear from the records of the colonist historians and conquerors is that the women were the chiefs of the war, being especially deadly, and described as women with large bodies, pale skin and long black hair. Also some of their customs such as their relationship with death. The Auarites used a form of voluntary death called "to let yoursel die". When an inhabitant did not want to continue living due to illness or sadness, his family was told and then he was accompanied to one of the caves (like the ones they used to live in) and was sealed inside only with an animal skin and a little milk, to die little by little inside.
Dejarse Morir is a sound piece that reconstructs the rape and death of two of the so-called Amazonas Palmeras (the War Chiefs) of the extinct Auaritas of the island of La Palma (where I come from) after the Spanish conquest in 1493. It is the story of Guayanfanta and AbuUanina who are killed, dismembered and raped on the summits of Cumbre Vieja, the island's volcanic mountain range. Their record is almost non-existent, with only a few monstrous accounts by settler historians. I reconstruct their mythology in the key of a cantata, presenting them as volcanic vampires who survive the violence and seek revenge, using a verbal cadence typical of ritual magic and remixing it with fragments of the Apocalypse according to St. John, to generate a Prophecy. The composed music is performed and composed by myself and I use my own voice. The sound piece is installed inside a sculpture with the texture of blood and the light of lava fire inside an arch of blood and stalactites.

Los Auaritas eran los habitantes de la Isla de La Palma previo a la conquista española. Se desconoce con claridad su origen y su nombre "Auaritas" o "Beneahoritas" fue dado siglos después, en el siglo XIX.
De los datos que se tienen claros, por los registros de los conquistadores e historiadores colonos es que las mujeres eran las Jefas de la Guerra, siendo ellas especialmente mortíferas, y descritas como mujeres de cuerpos grandes, pieles pálidas y largos cabellos negros. También son descritas algunas de sus costumbres como su relación con la muerte. Los Auaritas utilizaban una forma de muerte voluntaria llamada "Dejarse Morir". Cuando un habitante no quería seguir viviendo debido a la enfermedad o la tristeza, se le comunicaba a su familia y entonces era acompañado a una de las cuevas (como las que usaban para vivir) y era sellado dentro solo con una piel de animal y un poco de leche, para morir poco a poco dentro.
Dejarse Morir es una pieza sonora que reconstruye la violación y muerte de dos de las llamadas Amazonas Palmeras (las Jefas de la Guerra) de los extintos Auaritas de la Isla de La Palma (de donde provengo) tras la conquista española de 1493. Es la historia de Guayanfanta y AbuUanina que mueren asesinadas, desmenmbradas y/o violadas en las cumbres de Cumbre Vieja, la cordillera volcánica de la isla. Su registro es casi inexistente quedando solo algún relato monstrificador de historiadores colonos. Reconstruyo sus mitología en clave de cantata presentándolas como vampiras volcánicas que sobreviven a la violencia y buscan venganza, utilizando una cadencia verbal propia de la magia ritual y remezclándolo con fragmentos del Apocalipsis según San Juan, para generar una Profecía. La música compuesta es interpretada y compuesta por mi misma y uso mi propia voz. La pieza sonora va instalada dentro de una escultura con la textura de sangre y la luz del fuego de la lava dentro de un arco de sangre y estalactitas.
